Waiting for your new Tesla? What to do next!

Waiting for your new Tesla? What to do next!

So you've just ordered your new Tesla, what do you do now? With current waiting times being almost up to 1 year, this leaves you with a lot time on your hands.

Organise your charging options

The options are endless and will require a seperate post but some important things to think about are how far you will travel each day, your home energy plan, whether you live in an apartment or a rental?

WiFi

Your Tesla is a large computer that is connected at all times. One of the benefits of Teslas are that it has over the air (OTA) updates which continually improve the car. Ensure that your garage has a strong WiFi signal as it will need to constantly update wirelessly with the servers to get you the latest and greatest. If your current router doesn't reach your garage, you may need to consider getting a mesh router or range extender.

    Look for and order accessories!

Some of the most common accessories for a new Tesla include:

    • Car Floor Mats (all weather)
    • Screen Protector
    • Boot Mats
    • Charging Accessories
    • Cup Holders
    • Centre Console Organisers
    • Phone Mounts
    • Mud Flaps

Check if you have been assigned a VIN Number?

When delivery get close, you may be assigned a Tesla already without being informed by Tesla. You can find out by:

    • Firstly, ensure you're logged into your Tesla account
    • After logging in, either copy this link https://www.tesla.com/teslaaccount/oxp-bff-api/user-orders or click here
    • This will bring up a page with some random codes. You will need to see if you have been assigned a VIN where it shows this:
      {"code":200,"data":{"countryCode":"AU","vehicleList":[{"year":"2022","model":"my","vin":"LRWYHXXXXXXXX"
    • If you can't see anything next to "vin", you would not have been assigned a VIN Number

    Consider protection

With a brand new car you may wish to look at paint protection options such as PPF or a wrap. Some may also consider UV/Sun protection however Tesla has recommended not to tint the glass roof. You may wish to investigate and compare different quotes and reviews for your chosen vehicle
